At the heart of “The Eye of the World” are three main characters: Rand al’Thor, Matrim (Mat) Cauthon, and Perrin Aybara. These young friends live in the small village of Emond’s Field, on the edge of the kingdom of Andor. Rand, Mat, and Perrin are ordinary teenagers, living simple lives, until the day that their village is attacked by a group of dark forces known as the Fades.
