This sequence is not connected to the main plot yet—it’s a cold open to what will become a major storyline in Seasons 2 and 3. But it serves as the show’s thesis: while Holden and Bill are learning to understand serial killers, killers like BTK are already out there, evolving, undetected. The episode ends back in Virginia.
